Common Eye Problems and When to See a Doctor
GeneralHealthBangladesh
Eye health is often overlooked until problems become severe. Regular eye checkups can detect issues early and prevent vision loss.
Common eye conditions in Bangladesh:
- Refractive errors (nearsightedness, farsightedness)
- Cataracts — especially common in older adults
- Glaucoma — the silent thief of sight
- Diabetic retinopathy — a complication of diabetes
- Conjunctivitis (pink eye)
When to see an eye doctor:
- Blurred or double vision
- Eye pain or redness that persists
- Sudden flashes of light or floaters
- Difficulty seeing at night
- Any injury to the eye
Children should have their first eye exam by age 3. Adults should get checked every 2 years, or annually if diabetic.
